FAQ

Questions we get asked.

Anything else: hello@whoplayed.me

How does it work?

You add your track and tell us who you sent it to. We turn your track into an audio fingerprint and look for it in public videos. When it turns up, we tell you. On a paid plan you see who played it, where and when.

Do I need to run scans or buy credits?

No. Add your track and the DJs you sent it to once, and we check for you every day, more often on gig nights. No scan buttons, no credits, no scan depth and no schedules to set.

Will I have to judge matches that might be wrong?

No. You never see a confidence score or a “maybe”. Every play is checked twice before it reaches you, and if we're not sure, we don't show it.

How fast will I hear about a play?

As soon as we find it. On Founders you get an email with who played it, where and the exact moment, and it's waiting on your Matches page. On Free we email you that a play was found; who and where come with Founders.

Do you only check the DJ's own posts?

No. Plenty of plays are filmed by fans, venues and promoters rather than the DJ. We look for those too.

Do you store or hand out other people's videos?

No. We link you straight to the original public post at the moment your track plays. We never re-host or hand out anyone's video.

Is it 5 tracks a month?

No. It's how many tracks we watch at the same time: 5 on Founders. Unused places don't add up from month to month. Got a new release? Swap an older track out and the new one in: a track's place frees up 30 days after it was added. Added one by mistake? Remove it within a day, before any play is found, and its place frees at once. Every play we already found stays in your account.

Which platforms do you cover?

Public posts on Instagram, plus TikTok around DJs' gig nights. We never log in to any platform and never look at private accounts.

How do you know it is really my track?

Every match is checked twice before you see it. We would rather miss a play than show you a wrong one.

Is my music safe? Do you own it?

No, you keep full ownership. We never share, sell or publish it, and only use it to recognise your plays and check our own accuracy. We never license it to anyone. Delete it any time.

What about my personal data?

We collect only what we need to run the service, we never sell it, and only you see your results. Delete your account and everything in it any time from your Account page. Details are in our Privacy Policy.

How do I pay, and can I cancel?

By card through Stripe, yearly (cheaper per month) or monthly. Cancel any time: we keep finding and sending your plays until the period you paid for ends. After that you move to Free: we still tell you when a play is found, but not who played it or where, and your tracks and history stay in your account until you delete them. Full refund within 14 days of your first payment if we haven’t shown you a play yet (once per customer).
